GM Debuts Automotive Industry's First Front Center Air Bag

Someone once said that in the future, the inner works of our vehicles after a crash will look like a balloon party – sans the bright colors. And true enough, after the front, side, roof, knee, rear curtain and seat-belt airbags, automakers have now discovered another area of the car that can be fitted with an inflatable bag for our protection: the center.

Following Toyota's presentation of the first production rear-seat center airbag on the Japanese domestic market Crown Majesta in 2009, General Motors is introducing the automotive industry's first front center air bag, designed to protect the driver and front passenger in far-side impact crashes.

Buicks China sales surpass those in USA!

Ironic fact of the day: according to Automotivenews, it is almost certain that Buick will sell more cars at the end of the year in China than in the US! While Buick is getting a beating in its home market from the Asians, selling 206.582 vehicles the first 10 months of 2006 (down 15,4 percent in comparison to the same period in 2005), in China, it managed to sell an impressive 218.603 vehicles, increasing its cut 27.4 percent from 2005! Its a sick, sad world! Via: Automotivenews

2006 SEMA Show: 1964 Buick Electra 225 Convertible with a 620Hp V8

Now this classic is a little bit more like it. Apart from the fleet of funky granny Lurcenes, Buick's SEMA stand includes a beautifully restored 1964 Electra 225 Convertible fitted with a GM Performance Parts ZZ572 crate V8 engine pumping out an orgasm inducing 620Hp.

Along with the 620Hp V8, the modified Electra 225 features a Hydra-matic Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a custom radiator that's outfitted with twin electric fans. The car rolls on chrome 20" Boss Motorsports "312" 5spoke wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The body and interior retain their factory-stock looks, wearing a new coat of factory white paint and re-chromed trim. The top is white, with a black boot cover. The interior also is black, with the vinyl upholstery re-done to a factory appearance.
